Family Business-Oxymoron?

Do you patronize businesses within your family? Fact is, most people work, have a career, or own a business of some type which means there are people in your VERY OWN family that could provide a product/service for you...why or why don't you use family first?
LET'S FLIP IT. Say you are the business owner of a product/service or have a particular job that can be utilized by family members. What are your thoughts and experiences on family support and patronage-or lack thereof?
Let's Talk...all comments are welcomed and respected.

  1. Honestly I' still thinking on this...the product/service, location, convenience factor, price, customer service, and how things are handled when there is a "concern" that needs to be addressed are just some of the deciding factors in whether or not I support family business.I do not by any means jump on every train smoking just because we're related.I'm not into fly by night organizations of any sort.If the service fits our needs, interests, style, budget more than likely its a no brainer to support. That said, I strongly feel it's also my peragotive to use what or whomever I chose. No questions asked. However, as i open my awareness to more than what fits for me at this time, I notice the solidairty of other cultures that most definitely do family first and more often than not keep things in the family. Not aALL family using one person. No al family using/supporting EACH OTHER in various weighs and means. I would go even further and say that it appears to help build the family as a whole.Propelling and protecting resource for generations to come. So, as I continue to think on this question of....(who am I supporting in my family? who's supporting myself/my husband? why/why not?)... I challenge myself to look at the BIGGER picture. The FAMILY picture.
